Is my household eligible for EasyGreen™?
You can sign up for EasyGreen if you are a homeowner with a residential central air conditioner or if you have written authorization from the homeowner. Evaporative coolers or window/wall mounted units are not eligible. Air conditioning equipment must have an accessible mounting location; the installer may determine that installation is not possible due to certain unit conditions. You must live in a single family home or detached condominium. Initial program roll-out will be to the first 1,700 qualified installations in Manteca, CA. Don’t let that stop you from signing up, however. Following a successful initial program, we plan to expand EasyGreen to more homes and businesses in Escalon, CA and Ripon, CA!
How does EasyGreen work?
After you sign up, EasyGreen will call you to schedule an installation time that works for you. You have to be home during installation, but it only takes a few minutes. The technician installs a small sensor on your air conditioner on the outside of your home. In addition, we give you a small sensor to plug in inside your home that allows EasyGreen to manage your air conditioner to reduce your electric bill and help the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions believed to cause global warming. When regional energy consumption is at peak load, EasyGreen manages your air conditioner to reduce your electric bill while keeping the temperature in your home below 78° or 84°, depending on your program choice.
How much money can I save?
EasyGreen has calculated that the average user can save up to $300 during the summer season on the Comfort Program and up to $600 during the summer season on the Max Savings Program. The level of savings is dependent on a variety of factors and will vary from home to home. EasyGreen manages your air conditioner during the summer season from May through October when warmer outdoor temperatures result in increased air conditioning use.
Will my home be uncomfortable?
Generally your home warms up in the afternoon and early evening. So if you work during that time you would not be affected. Typically, most people are comfortable with the average temperatures inside the home. And your central air conditioning fan will continue to run, keeping your home comfortable (just the compressor is turned off). Also, you’ll be able to save money and do your part to reduce global warming.
Why is EasyGreen free?
Because we appreciate your effort to lower energy usage during peak summer hours, EasyGreen is FREE. The sensor, installation and maintenance are all sponsored by EasyGreen. There will be no future charges or cost for ongoing participation in the EasyGreen program. That’s because you’re helping us too. You’re helping Manteca to lower energy usage during peak summer hours which is very expensive to generate and creates greenhouse gasses that may contribute to global warming. California has been a leader in providing incentives for companies that provide services to manage energy more efficiently and help the environment. You will also assist EasyGreen in collecting valuable energy-usage data that can help to lower future energy costs and improve system reliability. You’re helping Manteca to become a city that’s smarter about electricity usage – that’s why it’s free and you get a gift card after installation.
When do I get my gift card?
Installation is required as a condition to receiving gift cards. After you sign-up, you’ll be contacted to schedule an installation date and time that work for you. Following installation, EasyGreen will arrange delivery of your gift card. The value of the gift card depends on the program you select - $25 gift card for the “Comfort Program” and a $35 gift card for the “Max Savings Program.” Also, if you are one of the first 300 to sign up, following your installation you will receive an additional bonus of a $75 gift card..
Nintendo Wii raffle?
The first 200 households to sign up are eligible for a random drawing for a Nintendo Wii. Following installation of these households, a winner will be selected and announced. Receipt of the Nintendo Wii does not require any purchase but does require installation of EasyGreen and participation in the EasyGreen program to manage your air conditioning system.
How can SSJID be offering this program if PG&E is my electricity provider?
SSJID is currently hard at work on becoming the electricity provider in this area. While it is not a reality yet, we believe we will be able to offer cheaper and more reliable electricity to you within the next year or so. In the meantime, SSJID is proactively committed to exploring ways that we can save residents money on their bill while offering you a service that helps our environment and saves electricity use. Most utilities are now required to offer conservation programs and we feel EasyGreen is the best option available in this area.
